8903L multipole lighting contactors are for lighting control applications. 8903L lighting contactors are available in either mechanically held or electrically held versions. This is an electrically held device. Can switch up to 30 A fluorescent and 20 A tungsten lighting loads. The contacts are field convertible from NO to NC. This device 3 pole device has 3 NO contacts. Supplied with a 110/120 VAC 50/60 Hz interchangeable operating coil but other coils are available in a wide variety of common voltages up to 600VAC. Contactor is in a NEMA 1 painted sheet steel enclosure, but a variety of other enclosure types are available. Coil and contacts are easily replaced. Thermal units are intended to protect motors, controllers, and branch-circuit conductors against excessive heating due to prolonged motor over-currents up to and including locked rotor currents. Protection of the motor and the other branch circuit components from higher currents, due to short circuits or grounds, is a function of the branch circuit fuses or circuit breakers. Class 20 thermal units respond to overload current conditions according to trip curves. Combination starter has a 30 Amp Class H fuse clip. These thermal units have a one piece construction. The motor current passes through a small heater winding within these thermal units. Under overload conditions, the heat causes a special solder to melt allowing a ratchet wheel to spin free thus opening the control circuit contacts and opening the motor contacts. -

Type S NEMA motor starters are used for full voltage starting and stopping of AC squirrel cage motors. Type S motor starters have ratings up to 810 amperes. This 3 pole NEMA Size 0 non-reversing starter has an 18 ampere rating. NEMA Size 0 motor starters have 3 phase ratings of 3 HP at 200 and 230 VAC and 5 HP at 460 and 575 VAC. This non-reversing NEMA motor starter has a melting alloy type overload relay that uses Type B thermal units to sense over current conditions. This NEMA starter has a 5 kA maximum SCCR (Short Circuit Current Rating) per UL508A when protected by an appropriate circuit breaker or fuse. 8501NR plug in relay sockets are designed for the proper wiring of 8501K plug in relays. This socket can be mount on 35mm DIN rail or can be mounted directly to a panel. The 8501KPR12 and 8501KPDR12 relays and 9050JCK timers will plug into this relay socket which is designed for 8 tubular pins. The socket terminals have pressure wire clamps for a good secure connection. To make wiring easier the terminals are not stacked. 8501NR plug in relay sockets are UL component recognized and CSA certified. -

The coil can be easily replaced in Type S contactors or starters. By changing out the coil, the contactor or starter can be used in different control circuit voltage applications. This will also save the cost of a whole new contactor or starter if the coil were to fail. This coil is used in an 8502SA, series A, 8502SB, or 8502SC contactor, in an 8536SA, series A, 8536SB, or 8536SC starter or an 8903SM lighting contactor. This coil is rated for 208 VAC 60 Hz.
