We formulated our 3M Detector Loop Sealant 5000 (PDF, 25 Kb) specifically for protecting detector loop wires even in challenging roadway environments. We also designed this sealant to be extremely easy and cost effective, both during and long after application.Tough Yet FlexibleThe sealant can be applied directly into the sawcut to form a durable tack free shell around detector loop wires without running into low spots, even on crowned or sloped roadways. It cures naturally in 24 hours, reacting with moisture in the environment to produce a rubber that resists weather, oils, gasoline, antifreeze, brake fluid and road salt.
